Episode three sees Hiro live up to his name, while Isaac Mendez's ex-girlfriend Simone Deveaux (Tawny Cypress) gets together with Pete Petrelli and Sylar enters the story
In the third episode of Heroes, Hiro (Masi Oka) returns to Japan and shows his friend Ando the comic book drawn by visionary artist Isaac Mendez (Santiago Cabrera). When he shows Ando the comic again, it now features him rescuing a little girl. They rush out onto the street, desperately looking for the girl amidst a whole gaggle of schoolgirls. In one of the moments of the show, Hiro stops time and pulls the girl to safety in the nick of time. Having finally convinced Ando of his powers, he persuades his friend to fly with him to stop the nuclear explosion he has witnessed in the the future New York.
Pete Petrelli is struggling to fly again, but his depression is not helped by his brother Nathan the Congressional candidate announcing at an election meeting that Pete tried to commit suicide. Furious, Pete storms out of the meeting. Later, after Nathan and Pete have fought, Pete runs into Isaac's ex-girlfriend, Simone Deveaux (Tawny Cypress) and they head back to her apartment. In his studio, Isaac sketches them together beneath her umbrella.
Matt finally convinces the detective that he can help with the investigation into the murder of the little girl's mother in the previous episode, and he sees a mysterious man who tries to kidnap the girl. They shoot the man dead, but he gets to his feet, and vanishes as abruptly as he appeared.
Meanwhile, Mohinder and his friend, the girl from the next apartment find their father's address book and it leads them to an aprtment owned by Sylar (who has already been mentioned by Matt in Los Angeles). Inside the apartment is a map that not only replicates the map and diagrams on his father's wall, but that there is more information on this map. Further inside, written in blood are the words 'Forgive me.'
But when Mohinder and his friend take the police there, the apartment is bare, stripped of all evidence.
Having buried the mobsters in the desert, and taken a ring from a skeleton that's already buried there, Niki drives her son to his grandmother where Niki and her mother-in-law quarrel. Mrs Sanders, snr. denies that her son was a murderer, and that he was justified in escaping -- that he should never have been there.
After she is almost raped then killedby her quarterback boyfriend, Claire Bennett wakes up in the autopsy room, with her chest ripped open showing the internal organs.
